This opening will offer art enthusiasts a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in a world of abstract expression.
Katey Berry has a unique signature style created with oil pastel, beeswax and dyed thread —a harmonious blend of abstract forms and organic elements, rendered in natural hues and layered textures. Her work challenges conventional boundaries, encouraging viewers to see beyond the surface and engage with the deeper narratives embedded in each piece. In her work, Katey explores the dynamic relationship one has with their environment. Living in vast expansive spaces of New Mexico has influenced her work and she is directly inspired by the landscape and grandeur of the high desert. Berry is known for her evocative mixed media works that bridge the gap between abstraction and reality. Katey's processes and visual language are physical, direct, primal, and precise.
Mary Long’s artwork is a striking exploration of the bold and dynamic potential of encaustic painting. She employs a range of techniques to build up textures and forms which results in pieces that command attention with their tactile quality and depth. Her compositions are both abstract and suggestive, evoking a wide range of emotions and interpretations. Long creates striking contrasts and harmonious blends of color, resulting in dynamic compositions that stir the imagination. Her artwork has a distinct ability to evoke a sense of wonder and intrigue. The final effect resulting in artworks that are both visually compelling and richly textured.
Martha Rea Baker's layered abstract mixed media paintings offer a profound exploration of memory and place. Baker's paintings are characterized by their intricate layering, which serves as a metaphor for the way memories are built up over time. Each piece is imbued with a sense of nostalgia and personal connection. Through her abstract approach, she distills these memories into visual form, creating a dialogue between the tangible and the intangible. Her use of color, texture, and form evokes the emotions and impressions associated with these places, allowing the viewer to experience them in a deeply personal way. Baker's paintings not only celebrate the beauty of abstraction but also honor the enduring impact of our memories and the landscapes that inhabit them.
