Artist Statement
My paintings are an exploration of color, texture, and the quiet simplicity of a landscape. Using a limited palette, I build a sense of space through layers of paint, subtle shifts in tone, and the contrast between soft and heavily worked surfaces.
The horizontal bands suggest a horizon, while the varied marks and textures give the painting a sense of depth and movement. I am interested in how much can be expressed with a limited range of color and how the physical process of applying and removing paint becomes part of the finished work.
The paintings are not intended to represent a specific place, but rather to capture the atmosphere and structure of a landscape through an abstract approach. Its simplicity allows the texture, tonal variation, and balance of the composition to take center stage.
